In his Nobel Peace Prize lecture, former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan, said, “peace must be made real and tangible in the daily existence of every individual in need”.

According to The Nobel Prize:
“Peace must be made real and tangible in the daily existence of every individual in need. Peace must be sought, above all, because it is the condition for every member of the human family to live a life of dignity and security.”

Kofi Annan was a Ghanaian diplomat who served as the seventh (7th) Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) from 1997 to 2006.
Annan and the UN were the co-recipients of the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize; he was born on 8 April, 1938 in Kumasi, Ghana (Colony of the Gold Coast then), and died in Bern, Switzerland on 18 August, 2018.
