Bangladesh Student Protests: ‘United States welcome interim government’ – Blinken

Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States (US), said, “the United States welcome interim government in Bangladesh.”

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wazed, 76, fled the country following the student protests in the country which claimed more than 200 lives

The student protests was aimed against government job restrictions.

According to Blinken: “I welcome the swearing in of Dr. Muhammad Yunus to lead the interim government in Bangladesh. The United States supports his call for calm and peace and remains committed to working with Bangladesh as it charts a democratic and prosperous future the people in Bangladesh.”
