UK General Election 2024: President Biden congratulates new UK PM Keir Starmer

President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, has sent his congratulatory message to new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Keir Starmer, following his victory at the UK General Election 2024.

Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party, emerged victorious over Rishi Sunak of the Conservative Party with a huge victory in the recently conducted election.

The UK General Election 2024 took place on Thursday 4 July, 2024.

The US President said, “I look forward to our shared work in support of freedom and democracy around the world”.

The new UK PM has named his cabinet with Rachel Reeves as Chancellor and Angela Rayner as deputy PM.

Reeves emerged following her appointment the first female Chancellor of the United Kingdom (UK).

In his congratulatory message, President Biden wrote: “Congratulations to Prime Minister Keir Starmer on becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.


I look forward to our shared work in support of freedom and democracy around the world, and to further strengthening the special relationship between our two countries.”

Starmer disclosed, he spoke to allies and partners of the UK across the world, saying, “the UK stands ready to continue to work with them to deliver security and growth at home and abroad”.
