Nistelrooy enjoyed five beautiful seasons as a striker for United after joining in 2001.
The Dutchman netted 150 goals, placing him 11th on the club’s all-time list, however, moved away in controversial circumstances after his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson nosedived.
Nistelrooy has been jobless since quitting as manager of Netherlands Eredivisie club, PSV Eindhoven at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Erik Ten Hag who expressed joy following the introduction of former Nistelrooy into United coaching crew said: “I am delighted Rene and Ruud have agreed to join our project, adding a wealth of experience, knowledge and new energy to the staff.”
