Evan Gershkovic: ‘Russian government should release him immediately’ – Bill Clinton

Former United States (US) President, Bill Clinton, has come out to “strongly condemn the verdict in the sham trial of Evan Gershkovich for the only “crime” of being a journalist”.

Gershkovic was found guilty of espionage by a Russian court and sentenced to 16 years behind bars.

Clinton called on the “Russian government for his immediate release.”

According to Bill Clinton: “I strongly condemn the verdict in the sham trial of Evan Gershkovich for the only “crime” of being a journalist, and call on the Russian government for his immediate release. My thoughts are with Evan and his family during this difficult time. We must continue to work to ensure the safety and freedom of the press worldwide.”
