Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has sent his “heartfelt condolences to the government of Anambra state as well as families who have lost their loved ones” in the building Collapse at Amawbia Market in the State on Friday 5 July, 2024.

He said, the “unfortunate incident claimed lives and caused injury”, and urged “the state government to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families and to take immediate steps to prevent such tragedies in the future”.
According to Obi: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the unfortunate event of building collapse that claimed lives and caused injury at Amawbia Market yesterday. My heartfelt condolences go out to the government of Anambra state as well as families who have lost their loved ones,
“and I pray for the quick recovery of those injured. During times of such immense tragedy and sorrow, it is important that we come together as a community to support one another.
“I urge the state government to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families and to take immediate steps to prevent such tragedies in the future. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.”
