Israel V Hamas: ‘I strongly encourage the government of Israel and Hamas leadership to reach an agreement’ – UN Chief Guterres

Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, has encouraged Israel and Hamas to reach an agreement.

This is coming as Israel prepares to invade Rafah, with the aim to “achieve complete victory” over Hamas.

Guterres said, “I strongly encourage the government of Israel and the Hamas Leadership to reach an agreement for the sake of the people of Gaza and for the sake of the hostages and their families”.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas has surpassed 200 days.

According to Guterres: “As negotiations are once again underway, I strongly encourage the government of Israel & the Hamas leadership to reach an agreement.


“For the sake of the people of Gaza.

For the sake of the hostages & their families.

For the sake of the region & the wider world.”
