AFCON 2023: Nigeria 4(1)-(1)2 South Africa – ‘Well done for making it to the final’ – Bafana Bafana

The Bafana Bafana of South Africa has sent its congratulatory message to the Super Eagles after Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 CAF Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria defeated South Africa in a penalty shootout 4-2 in the semi final at Stade Bouaké on Wednesday 7 February, 2024, following a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

Bafana Bafana wrote: “Well done to Nigeria for making it to the final of AFCON 2023.”

Defender, William Troost-Ekong, shot Nigeria ahead in the 67th minute from the penalty spot, and Teboho Mokoena levelled for South Africa in the 90th minute from the penalty spot.

Bafana Bafana also extended gratitude to South Africans for their “unwavering support throughout the tournament” for the country’s team.

Nigeria will slug it out with host, Ivory Coast, in the final of the AFCON 2023; the Elephants emerged winner in the semi final match against the Leopards of DR Congo, winning by a lone goal.
