The United States (US) has secured the release of two Americans taken hostage by Palestinian militants known as Hamas, as disclosed by US President Joe Biden.

Both Americans were released on Friday 20 October, 2023.
The US President said, “we have secured the release of two Americans taken hostage by Hamas.”
The Americans were taken hostage when Hamas struck Israel by surprise in the early hours of Saturday 7 October, 2023.
President Biden expressed his joy following the release of the Americans, saying, “I am overjoyed that they will soon be reunited with their family”, adding, “we will not stop until we secure the release of those who are still being held”.
The US President said: “Today, we have secured the release of two Americans taken hostage by Hamas during the horrific terrorist assault against Israel.
Our fellow citizens have endured a terrible ordeal these past 14 days, and I am overjoyed that they will soon be reunited with their family.
“From the earliest moments of this attack, we have been working around-the-clock to free American citizens who were taken hostage by Hamas.
“We will not stop until we secure the release of those who are still being held.”
