At the Hague District Court, a Judge ordered the halt in an injunction on Friday brought by the mother of a child conceived with the sperm of the donor and a foundation representing other parents.
The mother identified by Eva by the foundation, welcomed the decision of the Court.
Eva said via a statement, “I hope that this ruling leads to a ban on mass donation and spreads like an oil slick to other countries. We must stand hand in hand around our children and protect them against this injustice.”
According to the Court, under Dutch guidelines, sperm donors are allowed to produce a maximum of twenty-five (25) children with twelve (12) mothers, and the donor lied to prospective parents concerning his history of donation.
Identified as Jonathan M, the donor under Dutch privacy guidelines, provided sperm to different Dutch Fertility Clinics and to a clinic in Denmark, and to many other people he connected with through advertisement and online forums, the Court revealed.
The lawyer of the donor said in a court hearing, he wanted to help parents who otherwise would not be able to conceive.
