The National Population Commission (NPC) has revealed, members of the National Census Publicity Committee led by Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari, visited four (4) media houses as preparation heightens for the forthcoming 2023 Census.

The NPC disclosed the essence of the move was to “create awareness and galvanize support for the forthcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census”.
The four (4) media house visited are, “Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria (Pyramid FM), Radio Kano and the Triumph Newspaper in Kano”.

“This is in continuation of the advocacy visits to critical stakeholders in Kano State to create awareness and galvanize support for the forthcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census.
“The Committee solicits the support of media houses to sensitize and educate the populace to cooperate and present themselves to be counted in the 2023 Census, in view of the trending misconception and misleading information going viral that the census seeks to suppress the Muslim
“figures through canvassing questions on the religious affiliation of respondents.
“The National Population Commission has repeatedly stated that the 2023 Census will not canvass questions on the religious and ethnic affiliations of respondents.”
