Following an explosion from a crude oil tapping spot in Rumuekpe community in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State, several people have been feared dead.

It is believed the explosion is as a result of activities of illegal artisanal refiners operating on the trans-Niger Delta pipeline in the region.
This has led to the loss of an unknown number of lives encompassing women, some of whom were roasted by the fire beyond recognition.
Also, there is the loss of properties worth several millions of naira.
Fyneface Dumnamene, an environmentalist and Executive Director, Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre, confirmed the unfortunate incident, revealing the news came to him via it’s crude oil spill alert response system.
Police Authorities are yet to release a statement on the incident.
