2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said, he is against the electoral process of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that resulted to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu being declared President-elect.
While appearing on News Channel, Arise TV, on Tuesday 14 March, Peter Obi said he is “challenging the INEC electoral process that led to the declaration of Tinubu as President-elect”.
The 2023 Presidential election conducted on Saturday 25 February, 2023, produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 2023 Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as Nigeria’s President-elect.
Tinubu was declared winner of the 2023 Presidential election by the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu – discomfiting Peter Obi of the Labour Party; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP); alongside other Presidential candidates of other Political Parties.
The former Governor of Anambra State said, he is also “challenging the declaration itself”.
Obi said: “Following my response to a question while appearing on Arise TV earlier today, I want to state categorically that at the Presidential Elections Tribunal(PET), I am challenging the INEC electoral process that led to the declaration of Tinubu as president-elect as well as the Declaration itself.”
