The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022: Messi wins men’s player, Putellas wins women’s player

The Best FIFA Football Awards is the World football governing body’s flagship award through which the best football players are recognised and achievements in world football every year.

Football superstars were celebrated on Monday night in the city of Paris, France, with awards in Men’s and Women’s football.

World Cup winner, Lionel Messi, defeated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate, Kylian Mbappe, to clinch the Men’s Best Player prize.

Alexia Putellas won the Women’s Best Player prize for the second straight year.

Messi said: “It’s been a tremendous year and it’s an honour for me to be here tonight and win this award. 


“Without my team-mates I wouldn’t be here. 


“I achieved the dream I had been hoping for for so long. Very few people can achieve that and I have been lucky to do so.”
