The edifice used for the 2012 Olympics is now home to English Premier League club, West Ham United.
It has been revealed, the London Stadium is to be enclosed in a solar membrane to help reduce carbon emissions.
The work could commence on the east London site subsequently this year, according to the planning documents.
The project is to gulp £4 million, according to estimate, over the first two years. The edifice could then start to generate energy by the end of 2024, the Stadium’s owner, the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), disclosed.
The LLDC further said, the “key driver” for the project was to enormously cut down carbon emissions in line with the Mayor of London’s commitment to convert the city of London into a “zero carbon” city by 2030.
