This is coming just a day after Germany alongside the United States (US) promised to send battle tanks to assist Kyiv’s fight against Russia’s invasion.

Mayor of the city of Kyiv said, one person died and two others sustained injuries after a building was hit by strikes.

Two energy facilities were also hit by strikes in the Southern region of Odesa, officials disclosed.

The head of the army of Ukraine said, in what was a sustained and wide-ranging attack, 50 air and sea-based missiles were launched by Russia on Thursday.

Valery Zaluzhny further said, 47 of the missiles were successfully shot down, encompassing 20 around the city of Kyiv.

A day earlier, Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, had assured his country would send 14 Leopard 2 Tanks to Ukraine, following several weeks of pressure from other nations.

Few hours later, United States (US) President, Joe Biden, announced the US would provide 31 M1 Abrams Battle Tanks.

Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, had showed appreciation for the tanks, however, pleaded for speedy delivery of the heavy weapons.
