Sergio Busquets, Spanish World Cup winner, has announced his retirement from international football.

34-year old Busquets who won the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and 2012 European Championship was Captain of the Spain team that participated in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Spain fell to African nation, Morocco, in the round of 16 in a penalty shootout, after playing goalless in full-time and extra time.
Busquets announced on his social media platforms, “After almost 15 years and 143 matches, the moment has arrived to bid farewell to the national team.
“It has been an honour to represent my national team and help lift it higher.”

Busquets’ entire playing career has been spent with Spanish La Liga club, Barcelona, for whom he has featured almost 700 times, clinching several trophies, which encompasses eight La Liga titles and three Champions League titles.
