FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Morocco fans left heartbroken as Doha flights cancelled

Morocco football fans in their hundreds are left devastated as cancellation of last-minute flights looks like it will prevent them from travelling to Qatar for their FIFA World Cup 2022 semi final clash against reigning Kings, France, on Wednesday 14 December.

The match between France and Morocco will be hosted at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s National Airliner, had made plans to run seven additional flights ahead of the semi final match.

The Airline made the decision after Morocco FA made a promise to give 13,000 tickets to fans to go see the match against France.

However, Qatari officials had blocked the flights on Wednesday.

In a statement to the Reuters news agency, the Airliner disclosed: “Following the latest restrictions imposed by the Qatari authorities Royal Air Maroc regrets to inform customers of the cancellation of their flights operated by Qatar Airways.”

It remains unclear why the Qatari officials made the decision to cancel the flights.
