The call was made by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, via a statement issued on Monday in the city of Port Harcourt, by Juliana Mask, an aide.
While addressing the Central Planning Committee on the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Danagogo said, the event was to make all Nigerians understand the need to appreciate the “retired” military officers.
He said: “The way we appreciate the retired ones encourages those in service to continue to give their best.
“We are aware that Nigeria today needs more than the best of the military, considering the security situation of the country.”
Danagogo pleaded with all members of the Planning Committee to converge and work diligently to ensure the event goes successfully.
Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, will be the Guest of Honour at the Rivers Grand Finale of the event, which will take place on 15 January, 2023.
Works to memorialize the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day will commence today, 20 December, 2022, with the Emblem Appeal Fund.
