New Chelsea manager Graham Potter kicked off to a shaky start as the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw in the Uefa Champions League Group E encounter by Austrian top flight club FC Red Bull Salzburg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, 14 September, 2022.

Raheem Sterling’s 48th minute opener for the hosts was struck out by Noah Okafor’s 75th minute leveller.
This outcome will do almost nothing to uplift Chelsea’s Champions League 2022/23 Group E campaign hopes as they remain stuck on the fourth spot after two matches.
Potter’s Blues’ chances of scaling through into the knockout stages of the competition remains seriously dented following their points sharing against the Austrian side, and a lone goal fall to Dinamo Zagreb in their first encounter in Croatia.

Graham Potter, in his post-match comments said, he was “frustrated” with the outcome, however, he was proud of the display of his side. The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager is aware that the expectation at Chelsea is to clinch victory.
