2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham: Oluwafemilayo break world record in Para-Powerlifting, clinch gold

In Women’s heavyweight para-powerlifting event, Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemilayo broke the world record.

This happened after she recorded a series of 130kg, 150kg and 155kg lifts to score a cummulative 123.4 points and clinch the gold medal.

Fellow citizen Bose Omolayo won the silver medal in the event with 115.2 points. Australia’s Hani Watson finished on 98.5 points.

Nigeria has a total of 13 medals in the competition, winning five gold, three silver and five bronze.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham kicked off on 28 July, 2022 and is expected to end on 8 August, 2022.
