Group C – Spanish La Liga club, Barcelona striker, Robert Lewandowski, scored his first ever World Cup goal in Poland’s crucial 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the FIFA World Cup 2022 match at the Education City Stadium in Qatar.
Photos 👇 The Barca sharpshooter took advantage of an error by Saudi Arabia midfielder Abdulelah Al Malki before finishing beautifully past onrushing goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais in the 82nd minute.
SSC Napoli midfielder, Piotr Zielinski, placed Poland in front in the 39th minute of play, however, five minutes later Saudi Arabia were awarded a penalty after Krystian Bielik fouled on Saleh Al Shehri.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny did well to keep out Salem Al Dawsari’s effort from the spot before producing a fine one-handed save to hinder Mohammed Al Burayk from clinching a leveller through the rebound.
Lewandowski’s late goal put an end to Saudi Arabia’s hopes of building on Tuesday’s historical triumph over Argentina and add more power to Poland’s chances of reaching the last 16 of the tournament.
