Berlin, Germany: Giant AquaDom Aquarium with 1500 fish explodes

Photos 👇 A very gigantic aquarium containing a million litres of water in the lobby of the Radisson Blu has exploded, flooding the hotel and streets nearby.

Home to 1,500 tropical fish – The “AquaDom” is 14m high (46 ft) – described as the largest free-standing cylindrical aquarium in the world.

There had been “incredible Maritime damage”, the Police said, and glass shards injured two people.

Social media photos revealed enormous amount of damage in the hotel’s foyer, and debris from the break was also scattered in the streets in front of the building, which was shut due to flooding.

As expected, guests have been evacuated from the hotel.

Fire Brigade of the city of Berlin said more than 100 fire fighters fought the fire and the cause of the break has not been determined.

More than 100 different species of fish were contained in the aquarium. On its website, it said, the attraction was closed temporarily and visitors asked to reschedule their tickets.
