Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has promised the Igbos, he will ensure their “businesses and trading will pick up again, if elected president”.
The PDP presidential candidate is one of the top contenders in the 2023 presidential election, and he will slug it out with two other top contenders – the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; and the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, come next year.
Atiku made these assurances in Owerri, Imo State, on Saturday, on the second leg of his national campaign tour in the Southeast region of the country.
The former Vice President of Nigeria, said: “This airport, the Imo airport; we dashed this airport to the people of Imo state. Our community, the community to which I belong. The community to which I belonged first in the South-East. That is why if I’m the president, Imo is the Presidency. It is your own Presidency.”
On the security matters which Atiku admitted is a national problem, assured something will be worked out.
He said: “Together, we would work out a settlement.”
On empowering youth and women, Atiku said: “I have been associated with the Ibo nation for many decades. I know that you are businessmen. I know that you are traders and so on. I want to assure you that if I have the opportunity and you elect me, business and trading will pick up again.”
