He further said, both countries are “sharing a strategy”.

Putin said, during an address with some military officials, which was televised, he will not stop to see Ukraine as a “brotherly nation”.

The Russian President sent troops in thousands into Ukraine in February. This ignited a war which resulted to the death of thousands.

He claimed the battle was “the result of the policy of third countries”.

During his address, Putin claimed, starting from Ukraine, the west had “brainwashed” post-Soviet republics.

He said: “For years, we tried to build good-neighbourly relations with Ukraine, offering loans and cheap energy, but it did not work.

“There’s nothing to accuse us of. We’ve always seen Ukrainians as a brotherly people and I still think so.

“What’s happening now is a tragedy, but it’s not our fault.”
