At least, two people have lost their lives and several others sustain various degrees of injury in a stampede at the Basra International Stadium in the Southern region of Iraq, ahead of the Arabian Gulf Cup final.

The Ministry of Interior of Iraq disclosed that two people have been killed and eighty have been injured on Thursday in a stampede.
Iraq, hosts of the tournament, are set to lock horns with Oman in the final of the eight-nation Arabian Gulf Cup on Thursday.
Fans in their thousands who don’t have tickets had converged outside the stadium since dawn with the hope of watching the uncommon home international encounter.
