Scholz revealed his country will send 14 Leopard 2 Tanks and give permission for other countries to release theirs as well.
This is happening following weeks of international pressure form Kyiv alongside its allies to issue the approval for the export of the German-produced tanks.
The Chancellor, during his address, urged Germans who were fretting over the decision to “trust me”, saying the move was the “right one”.
United States (US) President, Joe Biden, is expected to make an announcement the US will deploy to Ukraine its own advanced combat vehicles.
Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, is of the belief that his country needs at least 300 battle tanks to discomfit Russia.
Recently, Russia issued a warning of escalation in Europe through its ambassador in Washington if battle tanks are sent to Ukraine.
