Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan, has fired a government aide for making demeaning comments about LGBT couples.

Reports have it that Masayoshi Arai said he would not want to live next to, or look at, people in same-sex relationships.
Mr Arai further said, allowing gay marriage in Japan would lead to many leaving the country.
Those comments were “outrageous” as well as “completely incompatible” with the policies of his government, Mr. Kishida said.
Japan is an Asian country that still hugely upholds family values and traditional gender roles. It is also the only G7 nation that has not accepted same-sex marriage.
In recent years, several same-sex couples have filed lawsuits across Japan with arguments that the ban on same-sex marriage does not comply with the country’s constitution.
