2023 Elections: Labour Party’s Alex Otti emerge winner in Guber election in Abia State

Alex Otti, 2023 Governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State has been declared winner of the 2023 Governorship Election in the Southeastern State, conducted on Saturday 18 March, 2023.

Otti was eventually declared winner following a suspension of the collation of results in the State after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) revealed its office in Obingwa Local Government Area (LGA) of the State was invaded by thugs.

On Wednesday 22 March, INEC announced the resumption of Collation of results in Abia State, and following the announcement, Otti of Labour Party won in ten (10) LGAs; People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won in six LGAs; and the Young People’s Party (YPP) won in one LGA.

Otti amassed a total of 175,466 votes to discomfit his closest opponent, the candidate of the PDP, who amassed 88,526 votes.

Prof. Nnenna Oti, the Returning Officer, declared Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP) winner at the Headquarters of INEC, in Umuahia, capital of Abia State, after the completion of results collation.
