Kahn said Tuchel led “a team like PSG to the Champions League final and worked very successfully during his time at Chelsea”.
The German Bundesliga defending champions parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann and confirmed Thomas Tuchel as new manager.
The club also confirmed Tuchel will take over training on Monday, explaining Nagelsmann was sacked following “up-and-down performances”.
Sporting Director of Bayern Munich, Hasan Salihamidzic, said, the Bavarians have “only won five of our last ten Bundesliga matches”.
On Tuchel’s appointment, Kahn said: “His qualities are impressive, that goes without saying, as is his career. To lead a team like PSG to the Champions League final can’t be easy, and he also worked very successfully during his time at Chelsea. His CV is very impressive.
“There is also a lot of personal development which has gone into that career. As a result, we are delighted that Thomas Tuchel is our new head coach.”
