According to the National Population Commission (NPC):
To promote inclusion in the upcoming 2023 Population and Housing Census, the Commission has transcribed 2023 Census publications to braille alphabets to enable the effective participation of visually impaired Nigerians in the exercise.
NPC Federal Commissioner, Sokoto State, Hon. Chiso Dattijo representing the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra handed over the transcribed publications to the National President of Nigerian Association of the Blind, Mr. Ishiyaku Adamu at the NPC’s HQ, Abuja
The provision of census messages in an accessible reading format for the visually impaired people is part of the efforts of the Commission to ensure that no one is left behind in the 2023 Census.
The delegation was led by Director-General, Teachers Continuous Training Institute, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja to receive the Braille 2023 Census documents.
