Sudan is experiencing serious unrest following fighting between the Army of Sudan and the paramilitary force.
The unfortunate incident has led to the death of more than 300, leaving several others numbering above 3,000 with various degrees of injury.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed serious frets over its inability to evacuate Nigerians in Sudan as a result of the deadly fighting that has engulfed the country.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), on Friday evening, disclosed, evacuation efforts had been put in place by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigerian Mission in Sudan.
However, she revealed authorities were facing challenges precisely with regards to airlifting Nigerians from the country.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa shared an update on Nigerians in Sudan. She said: “While
@nemanigeria and the Nigerian Mission in Sudan have put in place necessary arrangements, any flight now is gravely risky. Airlines on ground at the airport were all burnt today , there is a curfew in place and no flights can operate
“Humanitarian groups are making efforts to distribute food, water, medicals, while all efforts are being put in place to hopefully get the warring parties to ceasefire. Our thoughts and prayers are with our citizens there , and the whole country.”
