New York City has passed a bill which outlaws discrimination against weight.

The City is joining a huge movement in the United States (US) to make size a protected trait on par with race and gender.
According to studies, weight stigma is penetrating, as more than 40% of American adults are considered obese.
Shaun Abreu, City Councilman, said, weight discrimination was “a silent burden people have had to carry.
“They’re being discriminated against with no recourse and society saying that’s perfectly fine.”
