Nigeria defeated Sierra Leone by three goals to two in the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifier on Sunday 18 June, 2023 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sport Complex, Sierra Leone.

Sharpshooter, Victor Osimhen netted a brace to help Nigeria secure a spot in the AFCON 2023 which will be hosted in Ivory Coast.

Osimhen opened scoring for the Super Eagles in the 19th minute and went ahead to double the lead in the 32nd minute.

The hosts fought hard and scored their first in the 41st minute through Mustapha Bundu and in the 84th minute, Augustine Kargbo levelled for the Sierra Leoneans.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored Nigeria’s winner in the 5th minute of additional time.
