Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, held a meeting of the Emergency Headquarters following the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan on new year day.
According to japan.kantei.go.jp: “On January 2, 2024, Prime Minister Kishida held a meeting of the Emergency Headquarters for the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in 2024 at the Prime Minister’s Office.”
The meeting is coming following the earthquake that hit Japan on Monday 1 January, 2024.
The disaster triggered the release of a tsunami advisory.
However, the tsunami advisory was lifted on Tuesday 2 January, 2024.
So far, forty-eight (48) people have been confirmed dead as a result of the earthquake.
