FA Cup 2024/25: Arsenal 1(3)-(5)1 Manchester United – United progress on penalties

Manchester United have progressed in the FA Cup on penalties, defeating Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday 12 January, 2025.

Bruno Fernandes netted for Ruben Amorim’s side in the 52nd minute, but, the hosts did not stay long and levelled in the 63rd minute through defender Gabriel Magalhães.

Amorim benched first choice goalkeeper, Andre Onana, and fielded Altay Bayindir for the clash in London; the Turkish went ahead to save Martin Ødegaard’s penalty in the 70th minute.

Manchester United defender, Diogo Dalot, was handed a red card which left the visitors with ten men, who held on until penalties and emerged victorious with a 5-3 win in the shootout.

Altay saved Kai Havertz’s kick in the shootout; this opened the door for Arsenal’s exit from the tournament.
