Israel V Hamas: ‘There is not enough clean water to drink in Rafah’ – UNRWA

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said, “there is not enough clean water to drink in Rafah, Gaza”.

The UN relief and human development agency shared some photos of “families in Rafah queued for limited drinking water in severe heat”.

The situation in Gaza which is adverse is as a result of the fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants, known as, Hamas.

The fighting between Israel and Hamas started in the morning of Saturday 7 October, 2023 after Hamas launched a surprise attack on the Southern region of Israel, killing hundreds of Israelis, with several others taken hostage.

According to UNRWA: “”There is not enough to drink. There is not enough clean water available. It is appalling.”


Today in severe heat, displaced families in #Rafah queued for limited drinking water.


“Safe drinking water is now a luxury across #Gaza – this humanitarian catastrophe cannot be ignored.”
