Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, has expressed sincere sadness, following “the ugly news of the fatal road traffic accident that occurred in Awgbu Community, Anambra State, today, where about 5 persons lost their lives and many others were injured”.

The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), said, “an accident of this magnitude needs to be investigated to unravel the causes”.
Obi said: “I am sincerely saddened by the ugly news of the fatal road traffic accident that occurred in Awgbu Community, Anambra State, today, where about 5 persons lost their lives and many others were injured.
“An accident of this magnitude needs to be investigated to unravel the causes and be able to prevent future occurrences. I thank the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, who arrived to manage the situation, and passersby, who were on the ground to help the accident victims.
“That reflects our true humanity as a people. I sincerely condole the families who lost their loved ones to the tragedy as well as the injured. I join the affected in praying God to console them, grant eternal rest to the dead and grant quick healing to the injured.
“In times of pain, such as this, we must stand together and support one another.”
