Mr Trump, former US President, was shot at during his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday 13 July, 2024; he sustained a wound on his ear but no major injury.
After the shooting, he was immediately covered by his Security agents as he pumped his fist in the air saying, “fight! fight! fight!”
Obama said, “we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt”, adding, “there is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy”.
In his “quick recovery” message, Obama wrote: “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.”
Mr Trump will slug it out with President Joe Biden for the White House in the US Presidential Election 2024 which will hold on Tuesday 5 November, 2024.
