President of the United States (US), Joe Biden, has dropped out of the US Presidential Election 2024 race.

He said, “I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
The US President added, “I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”
Prior to his decision to drop out of the race, President Biden has faced several calls from fellow Democrats to step aside for a new candidate to be nominated.
He called on his fellow “Democrats to come together and beat Trump.”
Republican Party candidate, Donald Trump, has been amassing huge support since he made known his intention to run for President.
The former US President survived an assassination attempt on Saturday 13 July, 2024 at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania; he was moved away from the area with a wounded ear, but, no major injury.
President Biden said: “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
