After a lengthy wait, the Uefa Champions League returns to Camp Nou, home ground of Spanish top flight giants, FC Barcelona.
According to Barcelona via its official website, the Club has waited for “55” days to host a European match.
On Tuesday 3 November, 2026, Barcelona will do battle with Premier League side, Aston Villa, in the League Phase match of the Uefa Champions League 2026/27 at Camp Nou at 21:00 (WAT); it is Matchday 4 of the preliminaries.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are heading into the contest on the 8th spot of Champions League table with six (6) points, while, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are 2nd with nine (9) points; out of three (3) encounters, the Catalans won two (2) and lost one (1), while, the Villans emerged victorious in all three (3).
After defeating Dutch side, Feyenoord, 5-1; and Victor Osimhen’s Galatasaray 4-1, Barca were unable to contend with the supremacy of Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), with the French Champions slamming a 4-2 defeat on the Spanish side in Paris, France.
Aston Villa…
Aston Villa distributed 3-1, 6-0 and 3-1 defeats to Sevilla, Fenerbahce and Viking respectively.
With the current form of the English side, it is certain Barcelona will prepare for a tough showdown on home soil.
Aston Villa have Senegalese striker, Nicolas Jackson, who is currently in form with eight (8) in all competitions, encompassing three (3) in the Champions League.
The Senegal international moved to Villa Park in the summer from Villarreal. The former Bayern Munich player will definitely be regarded as a serious threat to the defense of the Catalans as he is the leading scorer of the Villans.
Other Villans to watch out for include, Ross Barkley, Emiliano Buendia, Pau Torres and Viktor Lindelof. These players will be bringing their wealth of experience to the game in Spain.
These players, Amadou Onana, Matteo Ruggeri and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, have been ruled out of the trip to Barcelona due to injuries.
Fc Barcelona…
German pro football manager, Hansi Flick, has several injury issues to deal with ahead of the game. These players are unavailable and will be missing in action for the Catalans; Xavi Espart, Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde and Roony Bardghji.
Flick continues to wield confidence following the defeats to PSG and Real Madrid, saying, the “quality” and morale of his team remains intact and undiminished.
In his pre-Aston Villa comments, Flick said: “We are confident. We’ve managed to win 11 games in a row. We’ve had two defeats, but we have the quality to win and achieve our objectives. Those are to win La Liga and the Champions League.”
