A Detroit man has been arrested after allegedly slashing the neck of a 7-year old girl at a park this week.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, 73-year old Gary Lansky was charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault in connection with the attack on Tuesday at Ryan Park in Detroit, United States (US).
The young victim was identified as a Yemeni American Muslim girl by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
She was playing at the park near her home when she was attacked.
Police said, officers responded to a home for a reported stabbing and found the girl with a laceration to her throat. She was taken to a hospital, treated and released the same day.
CAIR is requesting the Detroit Police Department and the prosecutor’s office to carry out a thorough investigation into the incident to ascertain if it was a hate crime.
