Norway sharpshooter, Erling Braut Haaland, scored twice as Manchester City defeated FC Porto 2-0 in the Uefa Champions League 2026/27 League Phase match at Estádio Do Dragão on Tuesday 8 September, 2026.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker was the scorer of the only goal for Enzo Maresca’s side in the Premier League match against Frank Lampard’s Coventry City on Saturday, and once again, he was the match winner on Tuesday night in Portugal for the English side.
The brace means the Norway international now has thirty-six (36) Champions League goals in just forty (40) appearances.
After a first half that recorded no goal, new signing from Chelsea, Enzo Fernandez, provided for Haaland, who opened the scoring in the 47th minute; and in the 1st minute of additional time, Algerian left wing-back assisted Haaland for the second to seal the win for the Cityzens and bag maximum points.
In the first half, Diogo Costa, goalkeeper of the Dragons, was exceptional, ensuring to deny Haaland on two occasions with amazing reflex saves, and preventing Antoine Semenyo and Phil Foden from finding the back of the net.
Manchester City have been ousted from the Uefa Champions League by Spanish giants, Real Madrid, in the past three (3) seasons, however, their performance in Portugal was outstanding, and fans are definitely keen to see how far the English Club progresses in the competition this season under new boss, Enzo Maresca.
Haaland has now reached a tally of five (5) goal for Manchester City this season.
