On Wednesday 19 August, 2026, Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, received his Certificate of Return following his victory at the Osun State Governorship Election 2026.
Adeleke said, he received the Certificate of Return with a “heart full of gratitude”, saying, it is also for the “good” people of Osun State who fought to defend democracy.
Governor Adeleke announced: “Yesterday, I received my Certificate of Return with a heart full of gratitude and humility. This certificate does not belong to Ademola Adeleke alone; it belongs to the good people of Osun State who stood firm and defended our democracy.”
The Governor also launched a ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund for victims of electoral violence; he made known, the Adeleke Family will take care of the education of children and dependants of those who lost their lives up to Varsity level.
Adeleke announced: “As we celebrate, we must also remember those who lost their lives and those affected by electoral violence.
“We have launched a ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to support victims of these incidents, while the Adeleke family will provide scholarships up to University level for the children and dependants of those who lost their lives.”

Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party (AP) discomfited Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to emerge winner of the Osun Governorship Election which held on Saturday 15 August, 2026.
Expressing his gratitude, he said, the victory and the Certificate belong to the people of Osun State.
He said: “I thank the people of Osun for your courage, faith and renewed confidence in our administration. This victory belongs to you. This certificate belongs to you. Osun, we move forward together.”
