A double from Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham, got the job done as England came from behind to cart a 2-1 triumph over Norway in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter final match on Saturday 11 July, 2026 at Miami Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States (US).
The outcome in Miami means England are now one victory from their first Men’s World Cup final in more than five (5) decades.
The Real Madrid player glowed once again in the showdown which took place in intense heat and humidity as his stunning brace handed the Three Lions their ticket to the last four (4) of the tournament.
The Vikings took the lead in the 36th minute through Benfica left winger, Andreas Schjelderup’s effort after converting an assist from Arsenal midfielder, Martin Odegaard.
But, Thomas Tuchel’s side responded with the leveller in the 2nd minute of first half additional time through Bellingham with a perfect pass from Barcelona player, Anthony Gordon.
German pro football manager, Tuchel, was forced to make changes in half time, replacing Arsenal midfielder, Declan Rice, who has not been in top form due to injury and illness, and, Noni Madueke, introducing Arsenal duo, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka.
Norway unleashed threats against England and that paid off with a goal in the 55th minute through Torbjorn Heggem, however, the goal was chalked off by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) following Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland’s uncalled-for foul on Elliott Anderson.
Another effort from the Norwegians by David Moller Wolfe went close; Wolfe’s header struck the bar.
Haaland was tamed all through the clash by the Three Lions and was unable to help his country, and, was eventually replaced at the break in extra time.
In the 93rd minute, the goal that sent England to the semi finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026 was scored by Bellingham. The former Borussia Dortmund player has now netted six (6) goals at the World Cup.
