Panama 0-2 England: Kane emerge Three Lions World Cup all-time top goalscorer

Harry Kane has emerged England’s all-time top goalscorer after netting the second goal to help the Three Lions to a fine 2-0 win over Panama in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final Group L match on Saturday 27 June, 2026 at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, East Rutherford, New York City, United States (US).

The Bayern Munich forward netted the winner for England, however, it was Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham, that inspired the Three Lions to the win.

Both goals were netted in the second half of the contest following a dull first half. The Central American nation mounted problems on Thomas Tuchel’s England, particularly on the counter-attack.

However, the Three Lions were able to take control of the game and found the opener in the 62nd minute through Bellingham with an assist from winger, Bukayo Saka.

And, in the 67th minute, the Real Madrid player turned provider as he released for Kane, who sealed the win with the second to help England cart all three (3) points and emerge Group L winners.

Bellingham’s fine cross was headed home by Kane as the former Tottenham Hotspur forward netted his 11th World Cup goal to surpass Gary Lineker’s long-standing record.

England will now face DR Congo in the round of 32 of the tournament in Atlanta, United States (US).

On the other side of Group L, Croatia clinched a slim 2-1 victory over Ghana to emerge second.

After the completion of the preliminaries, England finished the Group as toppers with seven (7) points, Croatia came second with six (6) points, while, Ghana and Panama third and fourth with four (4) and zero (0) points respectively.
