The game against Heidenheim is ‘important’ – Bayern boss Kompany

Despite winning the Bundesliga 2025/26, Bayern Munich Belgian manager, Vincent Kompany, has expressed his hunger for more victories as they lock horns with FC Heidenheim on Saturday afternoon.

Kompany described the game against Heidenheim as “important”, saying, their visitors have done well recently by winning two (2) out of their last three (3) games.

Bayern Munich will face FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga match on Saturday 2 May, 2026 at Allianz Arena at 14:30 (WAT); the Bavarians are already League winners with eighty-two (82) points currently, while, Heidenheim are bottom club, on the 18th spot, with twenty-two (22) points.

The former Belgium defender also talked about the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 semi final first leg match on Tuesday. He described what took place in Paris, the French Capital as “logical”.

On juvenile players, Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof, both midfielders remain doubtful for the game on Saturday, however, Kompany said, Karl might be available for the UCL semi final second leg against PSG in Munich, Germany.

At his pre-Heidenheim press conference, Kompany said:

On Bayern Munich’s influence in the relegation battle…

“This was a topic last year too. It’s also a good thing because it means we’ve done our job, but we don’t want to give anyone any gifts. We showed that in the last game against Mainz. We showed with our mentality that we’re doing everything to be ready.

“The game against PSG was obviously very intense and the anticipation for the second leg is very high in all of Munich. My job is to keep the focus on Heidenheim, which I’m trying to do every day.”

On Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl…

“I hope that Tom Bischof will be back already tomorrow, Lennart Karl won’t be. Maybe against Paris, but we’re being cautious with his situation.”

On the PSG match…

“I don’t always see everything black or white. For me what happened in Paris is logical. Of course I’d like to keep a clean sheet, that’s always our aim.

“If you analyse logically what happened in the match, it was to be expected. In the end, we just want to win and use the means we have.

“We don’t want to lose, and that’s what makes us strong.”

On Heidenheim…

“We’re at a stage where every game is important. Heidenheim have won two of their last three games. A relegation battle is mentally very tough; great respect for them. We’re going to do our best to win.”

Bayern Munich will slug it out with Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) on Wednesday 6 May, 2026 in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 semi final second leg at Allianz Arena at 20:00 (WAT).
