Volodymyr Zelenskky, President of Ukraine, has expressed his readiness to “help” in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz being blocked by Iran since the war against the United States (US) and Israel broke out.
The Ukrainian President said, his “signal” to America and countries in the Gulf region was that, his country is open to talking about it.
President Zelenskky said on X: “Our signal to the United States and countries in the Middle East about the Strait of Hormuz was that we were open to discussing it.”
On Friday, Zelenskky said, no country can lift the Strait of Hormuz blockade “on its own” and suggested “joint steps” can bring about positive results.
He said, his country has faced virtually the same problem “with launching the Grain Corridor in the Black Sea despite Russia’s attempts to block the flow of food and other goods”. He however, admitted it is not exactly the same as “this is about energy”.
Zelenskky then made his suggestion coming from the experience he’s had. He said, “the war and the negotiations on reopening the Hormuz Strait can go in parallel. It’s worth trying to find a diplomatic solution, and this could be beneficial for both sides in the war.”
The Ukrainian Leader gave another option, saying, Hormuz Strait can be controlled “unilaterally” just as his country did with the Grain Corridor, but, he added, to achieve this, there will be the need for “military convoys to escort vessels”, and Ukraine stands “ready to help”.
Zelenskky said: “An alternative step would be to control the Strait unilaterally, as Ukraine did with the Grain Corridor. Achieving this would require interceptors, military convoys to escort the vessels, a large integrated electronic warfare network, and other tools. We stand ready to help with this.”
In a recent post on Truth Social, President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, reminded that he handed Iran “ten days” to make a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He then warned that, if Iran fails to adhere “all hell will reign down” on the Asian country. Trump said, “time is running out”.
President Trump posted: “Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them.”
