Liverpool eased through Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 in the FA Cup 2025/26 fourth round match on Saturday 14 February, 2026 at Anfield to reach the fifth round.
The Reds launched one of their best performances of the season as they comfortably progressed to the next round of the tournament.
Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah, netted from the spot to seal the win for Arne Slot’s side; also goals from Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai ensured the Reds’ easy win against their visitors.
Liverpool are looking to salvage their season run with a trophy as they recorded just the third time this campaign they have embarked on a run where they have emerged victorious in two (2) games on home turf successively.
The home side thought they had taken the lead when Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, headed home a fine free-kick from Szoboszlai as the first half came close to conclusion without a goal.
Gakpo’s goal was ruled out for offside and Reds fans celebrations got short-lived, however, Liverpool continued to fight and just three (3) minutes to the end of the first half, Jones, who was fielding as a temporary right-wing defender, tapped home from close range a low cross from Milos Kerkez to hand the hosts the lead.
The Seagulls did start the second 45 minutes very well with Reds goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, being forced to make a fine save to deny Lewis Dunk a leveller for the visitors.
In the 56th minute, Salah provided for flexible player, Szoboszlai, who heightened the Reds tally with a stunning finish.
With the Hungary international’s goal, any chance at coming back into the game for Brighton was shut.
Salah, in the 68th minute, netted the third and sealed Liverpool’s progress to the competition’s fifth round from the penalty spot after being fouled on by Pascal Gross.
What next for Liverpool in the FA Cup?
After victory over Brighton at Anfield, Liverpool will now wait for the fifth round draw, which will take place on Monday 16 February, 2026, to see who they slug it out with next in the tournament.
Brighton’s feeble run in the seaon continues as they get kicked out of the tournament. The Seagulls are yet to record a win in their last five (5) matches.

Slot’s post-Brighton comments
Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, told TNT Sports after the win over the Seagulls:
“Many times this season when we played here, it wasn’t possible to press, because of the style of play of the other team.
“As I said before the game, today we have two teams that have a similar style. That want to bring the ball out from the back, as you could see in our second goal, and two teams who want to press high.
“The modern Premier League is not that much about bringing the ball out from the back, it’s a lot about the direct style of play and a lot about set-pieces.
“The playing style of opponents has massively changed throughout the league, but particularly against us.”
