Super Eagles AFCON 2025 Group stage bonuses ‘fully released’ – Minister Uzoka-Anite

Nigeria’s Minister of State Finance, Hon (Dr) Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, has made known, all AFCON 2025 Group stage bonuses of the Super Eagles have been “fully released and have now cleared the necessary regulatory stages”.

The announcement which was made on Thursday 8 January, 2025 is coming as Nigeria prepares to lock horns with Algeria in the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 quarter final match on Saturday 10 January, 2025 at 17:00 (WAT) at Stade De Marrakesh, Morocco.

In the update on X on the match bonuses of the Super Eagles, the Minister said, the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have “successfully streamlined exchange processing to ensure our players are rewarded without further delay”.

Nigeria easily doused Mozambique by a whopping four (4) goals to zero (0) in the Round of 16 match on Monday to clinch a spot in the last eight (8) of the tournament.

Uzoka-Anite assured, henceforth, there will be no more delay in the disbursement of payments to players; she said, the move is targeted at “supporting the team’s welfare so they can maintain their incredible momentum in the knockout rounds”, as well as, “bringing the trophy home”.

On the current progress, the Minister disclosed: “Funding: All group-stage bonuses were fully released and have now cleared the necessary regulatory stages.

“Acceleration: We have implemented a fast-track conversion process to move funds into foreign currency, honouring the players’ preferences.

“Disbursement: The final transfers to domiciliary accounts are currently in flight. Players can expect these funds to reflect starting today or tomorrow.”
